Other levels of backing only gave away in-game perks and copies of the game. Which will be based on copies sold rather than overall profits. At the $500 level backers could receive a small revenue share. They did do something out of the ordinary with this project. After all Homeworld 2 was released back in 2003. Maybe that’s why they began with a goal of only $1 or maybe they just needed a way to build hype and interest in the new game. Even Gearbox Studios said that the games future was not contingent on the success of the funding and that it was about giving back to the community.
